At SEED, learning isn’t confined to the classroom. We believe that by exploring the world around them, students gain the clarity of purpose needed to navigate the journey from college to career. Through our external programming, scholars see their futures through new lenses—discovering not just what they want to do, but exactly what it takes to get there.
SEED LA: Forging the Future of Transportation
SEED’s partnership with LA Metro offers SEED LA students a front-row seat to the rapidly evolving world of STEM and urban infrastructure. Students tackle real-world engineering challenges, applying classroom theory to sustainable architecture and collaborative problem-solving.
The unique relationship with LA Metro is a highlight of SEED LA’s innovative STEM programming. Learning about career pathways while still in high school inspires students to look to the future. For student ambassador Marcelo (SEED LA ’27), the program was eye-opening. "Metro showed me how we can use engineering to help the communities around us,” he shared. Marcelo has since been invited to apply to LA Metro’s competitive summer internship, honing his professional edge through mock interviews and networking.
SEED Miami: Discovering Diverse Pathways
A hallmark of the senior year at SEED Miami is the Senior Internship Program. This capstone experience places students directly into the Miami business community—spanning healthcare, legal services, nonprofits, and hospitality—to build career-readiness skills before graduation.
For Bre’una (SEED Miami ’26) an internship with SeaFair Miami Yachts opened doors to a world she hadn’t previously considered: luxury hospitality. From event management to high-stakes operations, Bre’una gained an insider’s view of a booming industry. “I am so grateful to experience hospitality management up close,” Bre’una shared. “It furthered my vision of where I want to go in life. Now, I want to start at a yacht club and learn the ins and outs.”
Beyond Exposure: Developing Professional DNA
These experiences are more than just shadowing—they are about professional immersion. Students are expected to show up as young professionals, navigating workplace expectations, time management, and effective communication.
“What makes this meaningful is that it goes beyond exposure,” says Taylor Samuel, SEED Miami’s associate director of partnerships. “Students are managing real responsibilities and learning to navigate the professional world in real-time.”
The SEED Advantage: Career-Focused, College-Ready
Early career exploration isn’t just about the job—it’s about college success. Research shows that students who explore careers early tend to declare majors sooner and graduate on time, avoiding the costs of frequent major changes.
At SEED, we don’t point students toward a single path. Instead, we provide the map and the compass. By offering diverse exposure programs, we empower our scholars to discover their own goals and plan a path that leads to, through, and beyond college.
