Day in Life

A Day in the life of students at The SEED School of Washington, D.C.

6:30 A.M.

Students wake up, prepare for the day and enjoy a hot breakfast in the dining room before heading off to classes in the Academic Center.

8:15 A.M.

Morning classes, such as this middle school technology class, begin. There are three morning class periods before lunch.

10:00 A.M.

In between classes, students relax, catch up with friends and pick up books for their next class in the hallways of the Academic Center.

12:00 NOON

Students and faculty eat lunch together in the dining room in the Student Center. While proper etiquette remains a priority, meals are always a social time. For lunch, students may choose either a hot entrée or a buffet that offers salad, soup and sandwiches.

1:15 P.M.

Afternoon classes, such as this upper school math class, begin. Students have seven classes a day covering subjects such as Spanish, geometry and American history.

3:00 P.M.

Life skills courses, covering topics such as nutrition and study skills, are taught by student life staff to middle school students every day and to upper school students once a week.

3:50 P.M.

Classes end and students may return to their dormitories. SEED's sports teams, the Falcons, also practice and play in the late afternoon three days a week.

4:30 P.M.

Extracurricular programs and clubs, such as yearbook staff, drama club and dance club, meet after class three times a week. Many of these groups are student-organized and student-led.

5:30 P.M.

Students return to the dining room for dinner to finish off the day's activities.

7:00 P.M.

Evening study hall begins. Students do their homework in their rooms or in common study rooms in the dorms. Student life staff supervise this time, helping with work and answering questions.

9:00 P.M.

Students spend the last hour of their day in their rooms reading or listening to music before lights out.
