Marshall Hall
Marshall Hall, the boys' dormitory, is the red brick building located just west of the Lewy Academic Center. Built in 1999, Marshall Hall housed all SEED students until Brown Hall was constructed in 2002. Today, all SEED male students live in double rooms in Marshall Hall. Sixteen boarding faculty members and supervisors have private apartments throughout the building.
Each floor is home to up to four houses, which are named for a college or university and led by a boarding instructor. Students and boarding instructors develop their own charter, rights and responsibilities, schedule and décor for the house. Boarding faculty promote dormitory unity and morale through special events such as house dinners, theater performances, contests, group reading, current events discussion and college planning programs.
Middle school students live on the first two floors along with a few upper school students who serve as student advisors. Most upper school students live on the top two floors. Each floor has a student kitchen, two community bathrooms and a large common area for relaxing and studying. Students have computers in their rooms, as well as access to computers in study rooms and common areas throughout the building. Under supervision from boarding staff, students use these computers, which are connected for full Internet access, to complete group assignments and to research projects. Phone and television access are available to students by appointment.
