Brown Hall
Brown Hall, the girls' dormitory, is the long beige building located just east of the Lewy Academic Center. Since it opened in 2002, Brown Hall has housed all of SEED's female students; the girls live in double rooms with roommates. In addition, 17 boarding faculty members and supervisors live in private apartments in Brown Hall.
As in Marshall Hall, each floor comprises up to four houses. Houses are all named for a college or university and are led by a student life instructor. Each floor has a shared student kitchen and two community bathrooms. Houses each have a semi-private living room that includes couches, study tables, computer clusters and a small reference and reading library. Girls study together, read and build friendships in these intimate common rooms, which are often the site of house meetings and activities.
Students in both dorms use internally-networked computers in their rooms to access homework and submit assignments. Students may also use computers that are located in study rooms and common rooms for study group and team assignments. Phone and television access are available to students by appointment.
Brown Hall includes :
- Four stories, 45,000 square feet
- 77 double rooms for students, furnished with beds, desks, desk chairs, bureaus, framed artwork, a large window and closet
- 17 boarding faculty and supervisor apartments (13 one-bedrooms, four two-bedrooms)
