Letter from Founders
Dear Friends,
It is hard to believe that almost a decade has passed since the beginning of SEED. In that short time, SEED has grown from an idea in its infancy (the result of a brainstorming session between friends!) to a thriving institution that serves hundreds of students every year. We have so much to celebrate and be thankful for as we reach the milestone of our tenth anniversary. We invite you to explore our website to learn more – without the support of people like you, SEED would never have enjoyed such success thus far.
It is truly amazing to think that The SEED School of Washington, D.C. started in the attic of the National Children’s Museum. Today, our purpose-built campus is a shining example of what we hope to do in other locations across the country: revitalize neighborhoods while providing a top-tier college preparatory public boarding school education to children regardless of their socio-economic status.
Our students have made us truly proud: 97 percent of our graduates thus far have been accepted to college! Students at The SEED School have proven that with the right resources, young people can and will aim high, work hard and achieve their dreams. Our students regard college not only as an attainable goal generally, but as their goal personally. With the support of our rigorous academic and life skills curriculum, our tireless staff and dedicated parents and community members, there is no limit to what our young scholars can achieve.
SEED’s success thus far, of course, is due both to our loyal supporters, without whom we would be unable to provide a truly outstanding education for our students, and to the people who have dedicated their heart and soul to working with us. We honor our teachers and staff, along with countless others, for their commitment to our students and families. You can learn more about the fruits of their labor throughout the website.
This is a time of unprecedented growth, not only for our current school, but also for the SEED model as a whole. The need for a boarding school that provides a safe and secure environment, constant access to role models and a rigorous academic and life skills program is obvious. Parents, public officials, educators and many others from across the country have expressed a desire for SEED to provide a public college preparatory boarding school education to young people in their area. We are committed to exploring these opportunities, driven by the dream of serving as many students as possible.
We look forward to what promises to be an exciting future and we thank you for our interest in, and support of, our work. Together, we are the SEED – together, anything is possible.
Sincerely,
| Eric Adler | Rajiv Vinnakota |
